Golden Hour

Pick a date and location to see sunrise, sunset, plus golden & blue hour windows—perfect for planning sessions.

What are “golden” and “blue” hours?

Golden hour happens when the sun is low and light is soft and flattering. On most days it’s roughly the first hour after sunrise and the last hour before sunset. Skin tones look warm, shadows are gentle, and highlights glow—perfect for couples, families with little ones, and soft, timeless color.

Blue hour hugs the edges of daylight—when the sun is just below the horizon and the sky turns deep blue. It usually occurs right before sunrise and right after sunset, during civil twilight. This window gives dreamy skies, city lights starting to twinkle, and a calm, cinematic feel.

Tips: a few clouds are your friend (they catch color), beaches and open fields give the widest sky, and wind/light seas are great for hair and flowing dresses. Times below are adjusted automatically for daylight saving.
